Amsterdam to create 'scum villages

Heaven forbid but I can see the day of this coming here to the US  if the liberal/progressive/democrats continue to be elected to our political positions.

You think I'm being radical? Or super paranoid? Or being just plain stupid?

Do you believe it after reading the article? Just read the below...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/netherlands/9719247/Amsterdam-to-create-scum-villages.html

Amsterdam is to create "Scum villages" where nuisance neighbours and anti-social tenants will be exiled from the city and rehoused in caravans or containers with "minimal services" under constant police supervision.

Holland's capital already has a special hit squad of municipal officials to identify the worst offenders for a compulsory six month course in how to behave.

Social housing problem families or tenants who do not show an improvement or refuse to go to the special units face eviction and homelessness.
Eberhard van der Laan, Amsterdam's Labour mayor, has tabled the £810,000 plan to tackle 13,000 complaints of anti-social behaviour every year. He complained that long-term harassment often leads to law abiding tenants, rather than their nuisance neighbours, being driven out.

"This is the world turned upside down," the mayor said at the weekend. The project also involves setting up a special hotline and system for victims to report their problems to the authorities. The new punishment housing camps have been dubbed "scum villages" because the plan echoes a proposal from Geert Wilders, the leader of a populist Dutch Right-wing party, for special units to deal with persistent troublemakers.

"Repeat offenders should be forcibly removed from their neighbourhood and sent to a village for scum," he suggested last year. "Put all the trash together."
Whilst denying that the new projects would be punishment camps for "scum", a spokesman for the city mayor stressed that the special residential units would aim to enforce good behaviour.

"The aim is not to reward people who behave badly with a new five-room home with a south-facing garden. This is supposed to be a deterrent," he said.
The tough approach taken by Mr van der Laan appears to jar with Amsterdam's famous tolerance for prostitution and soft drugs but reflects hardening attitudes to routine anti-social behaviour that falls short of criminality.

There are already several small-scale trial projects in the Netherlands, including in Amsterdam, where 10 shipping container homes have been set aside for persistent offenders, living under 24-hour supervision from social workers and police.
Under the new policy, from January next year, victims will no longer have to move to escape their tormentors, who will be moved to the new units.

A team of district "harassment directors" have already been appointed to spot signals of problems and to gather reports of nuisance tenants.
The Dutch Parool newspaper observed that the policy was not a new one. In the 19th century, troublemakers were moved to special villages in Drenthe and Overijssel outside Amsterdam. The villages were rarely successful, becoming sink estates for the lawless.
"We have learned from the past," said the mayor's spokesman. "A neighbourhood can deal with one problem family but if there are more the situation escalates."

Bowling's Perfect game.

I have been bowling for around 50 years and the best game I ever had was a 299. As you know the perfect game is a 300.  I present the below story and how it would be even harder to obtain that elusive 300 for the seat of a wheelchair.

Virginia man in wheelchair bowls 300

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (UPI) -- A wheelchair-bound man from Virginia who says he rarely bowled before he was paralyzed from the waist down, has bowled a perfect game.

George Holscher, 48, of Chesapeake, was paralyzed in a car crash when he was 25.

"When my doctor told me I'd never walk again, that was the worst 5 minutes of my life. And that's about as long as I let it last," Holscher said.

Since his accident, Holscher said he started playing a number of sports -- including wheelchair basketball, tennis and billiards -- The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported.

He stuck with bowling, and when he rolled his perfect game Nov. 26, he became the second person ever to bowl 300 from a wheelchair.

"I know I said I can't feel my knees, but let me tell you, they were weak," Holscher said of how he felt after bowling a 300.

"When you're on a streak like that, the whole house gets quiet," Holscher said. Everyone else stops bowling. It gets tense.

Man gets DWI after DWI hearing

MINEOLA, N.Y. (UPI) -- Authorities in New York state say a man was arrested for driving while intoxicated while trying to drive from a hearing for an identical charge.

Michael Nolan, 59, of Freeport appeared Tuesday in Nassau County court in Mineola on an aggravated-DWI charge from August and court officers noticed he smelled of alcohol and seemed unsteady during the status conference, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

The district attorney asked a police officer to follow Nolan when he left the courthouse and he was pulled over after climbing into his 2008 Toyota Tacoma and driving a few feet down the road.

Nolan was arrested on a DWI charge.

500 Million dollars did not make itself home here

Gee what I could do with that much money.  Oh well now I don't have to worry about it.  Two winning tickets were sold; one in Arizona and one in Missouri with none here in New Mesico.

I bought one ticket.  Those numbers were 25,39,42,48,52 and 31 as the power ball.  Let me say, equivocally,   my numbers SUCKED !  ! !!

Just finished reading this news story. Just doesn't make any sense ..

 'Cleaning Fairy' gets probation

ELYRIA, Ohio (UPI) -- The so-called Cleaning Fairy who broke into an Ohio house, cleaned up and left a bill, was sentenced to one year of probation and 20 hours of community service.

Judge Peter Corrigan sentenced Susan Warren, 53, of Elyria, Monday after she pleaded guilty in October to charges of attempted burglary and trespass, WKYC-TV, Cleveland, reported Tuesday.

Police said Warren, dubbed the "Cleaning Fairy," broke into a Westlake home May 22, cleaned up and left a bill for her services. Investigators said she was previously accused of a similar crime in Bay Village.

Just a run-around Tuesday

Not much to say.  Guests arriving tonight.  2 adults, 3 kids, and 2 dogs.  Plus on Thursday, some friends are going to drop by for dinner.  They are spending the holiday in Sante Fe and are from Colorado Springs.  Friends for 20 some odd years and at one time was my boss while in Guam.  Looking forward to seeing them - last time was 3 or 4 years ago where we met them in Sante Fe for lunch and conversation.

Plus got to run around and pick up 5 or 6 pies for Thanksgiving...  Yummy

New Beetle Bailey cartoon kinda sums up things.  Too bad it is not like this in real life.  All the words you want but no war attached to them.  This from a guy who sez nukem till they glow!

Wheelchair-bound football player takes the field and scores game's final touchdown.  High schooler's dedication prompts coach to name him captain

By / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

ABC News

Trent Glaze wheeled himself into the end zone, scoring a touchdown.

Fairfield Union's football captain Trent Glaze.

Fairfield Union's football captain Trent Glaze.

A wheelchair-bound high school football captain suited up and took the field for the first time Friday night, scoring a touchdown.
For Trent Glaze, who suffers from muscular dystrophy and has lived in a motorized chair for the past 10 years, it was a dream come true.
“I’ve still got butterflies,” he said in an interview with ABC.
Glaze, a senior at Fairfield Union High School in Lancaster, Ohio, joined the football team during his sophomore year. From the sidelines, he studied his teammates and gave them tips, trying to learn the game.
Fairfield Union coach Tom McCurdy calls Glaze his “right-hand man,” according to an interview with 10TV.
“He’s always telling me what we need to do and needs to improve,” he said.
Glaze, who is also homecoming king, was named a team captain this year.
“He’s a good kid, and he deserves it, and I love him dearly,” McCurdy told the Lancaster Eagle Gazette.
Of Friday night, McCurdy said it was Glaze’s “opportunity to shine.”
The clock was out, but both teams took the field for one last play. Glaze grabbed a handoff and wheeled himself into the end zone, as fans erupted in cheers and teammates raced to congratulate him.
“It means a lot,” Glaze told ABC. “It’s going to be in my memory for the rest of my life. I’ll never forget it.”

A fantastic Movie.

If you don't believe how easy it is to create a fascist state, even in the United States,  just watch this movie AND remember even though this movie is in German (sub-titles in English) and was produced in Gernamy it really happened in the U.S.

See:  How it happened in CA.

*****************
In essence it is about a German high school teacher's unusual experiment to demonstrate to his students what life is like under a dictatorship but it spins horribly out of control when he forms a social unit with a life of its own.

The Internet Movie Database is all one truly needs to find out about ANY movie.

See it at:  www.imdb.com/

For the movie go here: The Wave on IMDB

What one international critic had to say:

"Review by Andrew L. Urban:
It took one week - just one week, to turn a group of middle class high school kids into a Fascist mob with all the hatred and violence that represented Nazi Germany or Fascist Italy or Communist everywhere. While this is a dramatization of real events - in California, no less, not Germany - the message is still valid. Like the other German film about a real experiment, Das Experiment, in which volunteers play guards and prisoners, the ability of humans to slide into abhorrent, hateful behaviour is easier than we like to think

But the point of the film is not to preach, although it is certainly a genuine warning. The point is to explore human nature, to see how easy it is to create the conditions that appeal especially to the weak, the disenfranchised, the unloved, in which they feel empowered, and their resentment becomes a deadly weapon."

Some more randomness

I will try to keep from doing some of my rants, but I still standby the reality of my immigrant  grandparents.

Reading a book, via Kindle, called  "Sharky's Machine.  If it sounds familiar it is because it was written by William Diehl and was made into a movie starring Burt Reynolds in 1981. (read about it on wiki - - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharky's_Machine_(film)

Anyway a quote just seemed to jump out at me.  Here it is:
"The Chinese have a proverb----'The beginning of Wisdom is
calling a thing by its right name."'
In other words, let's be blunt?"

The first thing that came to mind was the phrase 'Illegal immigrant/alien'  and how so many folks, from the left/progressives/liberals, try to make one feel wrongly about using the phrase AND I should leave it at that but I won't.    From a year or so ago in a conversation the on-line City-Data.Com was a response to someone's comment - - Oh, and a word to my fellow posters, "illegals" is really not acceptable nomenclature. It's crass, dehumanizing and just as inappropriate as referring to people of color as "colored." Perhaps choose your language more thoughtfully. Generally "undocumented" is preferred.

Bull pucky and I responded by saying that was a load of you know what and in not the nicest of manner which was - - -And people like "you" are what is driving this country into the ground. The drivel that you spout makes me just sick. You (the generic you) are either here legally or illegally and calling the illegals undocumented just tries to hide that fact."""  Pure garbage........... Then I just left it alone.

Today I'm gonna take the doggie to the groomers.  Make him look like a real Schnauzer instead of a little fur ball.  It has been so cold here lately that it just seems like the wrong thing to do right now.  I probably bothers me more than it does him.

Just some random headlines

Ain't these headlines the shitz?  I wonder if my grand parents felt the way I do right now, when they read the headlines on their local newspapers.  Hell, my grand parents could not even read, write, or even speak English when the LEGALLY immigrated to the United States.  BUT it became a priority to  learn to speak english so they might be better able to assimilate into the american culture.  A far cry from what it is today.  Not like the brown wave hitting the US these days.  Folks been in the US for 30 years and still refuse to learn to speak english... also disgusting.

Food for thought:

Just a little of this and that...

Today is my Brother-in-Laws, Glenn's,  birthday.  I know he does not know about this site so I feel safe in saying the following.  My sister was married to him for almost 30 years before she died (sad sigh) is he still considered my brother-in-Law?  No matter, he is a friend for life.  Happy Birthday my friend.   Which reminds me of today's cartoon - - -

My side of the family but to tell you the truth there is not even that! ! !

Beetle Bailey Cartoon for Nov/09/2012

Coumadin level was at 2.7.  So... that means my levels for the last 8 weeks have been within the "normal" range.  Good news , not that it was that big of a deal, is now I am at a 6 week interval for having my blood checked.

Speaking of which, I have not received the results from the bone marrow testing conducted on the 22nd of Oct.  The oncology/blood doctor is only here once a week being his practice is in Silver City, but one would have thought he would of called me.  To be honest I'm a little bit of afraid to call them but I also realize if the results were bad, you know darn well they would have contacted me.

Even though I thought I would not do any election crap again.  I could not pass up this story.

Senate Minority Leader: No Tax Hikes

With conservatives across the country concerned about a rumored Republican cave-in in Washington, D.C. over tax policy, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is speaking out. Read his lips: no tax hikes.

McConnell said in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News:

One issue I’ve never been conflicted about is taxes. I wasn’t sent to Washington to raise anybody’s taxes to pay for more wasteful spending and this election doesn’t change my principles. This election was a disappointment, without doubt, but let’s be clear about something: the House is still run by Republicans, and Republicans still maintain a robust minority in the Senate. I know some people out there think Tuesday’s results mean Republicans in Washington are now going to roll over and agree to Democrat demands that we hike tax rates before the end of the year. I’m here to tell them there is no truth to that notion whatsoever.

The media has already taken House Speaker John Boehner out of context to claim that he is willing to cave on raising tax rates. In point of fact, Boehner has spoken about closing tax loopholes while lowering tax rates as part of a balanced approach to spending to avoid the much-dreaded fiscal cliff. Both House and Senate Republicans are united in their opposition to tax hikes.

Dead Texas liberal wins state Senate seat

HOUSTON (UPI) -- In one of the more unusual races, late Texas Democrat Mario Gallegos beat his Republican challenger for a state Senate seat.

Gallegos, who died last month, remained on Tuesday's ballot because he died less than 74 days before the election and the liberal Hispanic easily won re-election to his Fort Worth-area seat posthumously.

"He was always there for the community," long-time friend and retired firefighter Juan Hernandez told the Houston Chronicle.

Gallegos died of complications from liver disease in October.

"Every person who came up to me was like, 'Didn't he die?'" Cynthia Gallegos, his youngest sister, said in southeast Houston where the family gathered for Election Night. I would bite my lip and explain the process. We want to keep the district Democratic.

Under Texas law, Republican Gov. Rick Perry will declare the seat vacant and schedule a special election within 45 days.

Gallegos' brother-in-law, Johnny Villarreal, smoked a hand-rolled cigar from the winner's private humidor and said, "He (Gallegos) will be smiling all the way."

Missing tortoise found 50 miles from home

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (UPI) -- Animal control authorities in New Mexico said they do not know how a tortoise ended up 50 miles away from where it vanished from its owner's home.

Authorities said the African spurred tortoise was reported missing from its home in Alamogordo and turned up a week and a half later crossing a road at the Cree Meadows golf course in Ruidoso, KRQE-TV, Albuquerque, reported Wednesday.
