PRAYER BACK IN GEORGIA SCHOOLS?

ATLANTA —

Students and faith leaders gathered on the steps of the state Capitol on Monday to show support for a bill that would allow prayer back in schools.
House Bill 816, also known as Georgia Student Religious Liberties Act of 2016, would allow “students in local schools (to) pray or engage in religious activities or religious expression before, during, and after the school day."

It's an uphill battle for supporters, who are fighting a decades old Supreme Court ruling that banned prayer in school.
“(In) 1962 the Supreme Court made this ruling and, what we've noticed since the Supreme Court ruling, there has been an increase in violence, murder, teen pregnancy, divorce rate,” said Sabrina McKenzie with the Legislative Clergy Council. “If you don’t think prayer is the answer, then what is the answer?”
Members of McKenzie’s group joined several Morehouse College students and faith leaders with signs in support of the bill. Similar rallies are also happening in seven other states.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia says it will fight the bill. The executive director, Maya Dillard Smith, told Channel 2’s Craig Lucie, “There is a concern that the law specifically creates a limited public forum, which means the government then gets to decide more leeway on what speech is included and what is not. You could have a hodge podge of laws from county to county.”
The ACLU also said the way the law is written now, it may lead to unintended consequences, which could then lead to lawsuits down the line. It said it wants to educate lawmakers behind the bill.
Mark Banks from the Freedom From Religion Foundation of Georgia released a statement:
"With regard to all of the "Religious Freedom" bills circulating at the State Legislature, they are all essentially unconstitutional and contradict the civil rights laws on the books now.
If any of these bills pass they would allow anyone to claim their religion as a reason to discriminate against anyone for any reason. This is just another example of our politician trying to use our Secular government to impose their religious doctrine on everyone. Most of these politician are also pandering to the Christian fundamentalist for votes."

10. UC San Diego Students “Free the Nipple”
UC San Diego coeds held a topless gathering to protest gender inequality. Organizers provided masks, snacks, and body painting. One organizer told News10 she wanted to, “normalize the female breast.” Campus Reform reported that a male student who attended complained, “I do not understand why some females who were supporting the event, were topless but covered their nipples. Seemed contradictory for me.” Enough said.

9. California Polytechnic University Students Hold A “Shit-In”
Yes, you read that right. Cal Poly students held a three-day “shit-in” to protest the lack of access to gender neutral bathrooms. Students were encouraged to sign a mock toilet during the protest, on which messages such as “poop equality” were written, according to Campus Reform.

8. Students March For Free College At Campuses Across The Country
On November 12, students on campuses across the country organized the “Million Student March.” Participants made three demands—tuition-free public college, cancellation of all student debt and a $15 minimum wage for all campus workers. Protesters have not yet solved the problem of who would pay the trillion-dollar-plus tab.

7. Williams Students Declare “Uncomfortable Learning” Series Speaker Too Uncomfortable

Williams College students invited a conservative author and feminist critic to speak on campus as part of the “Uncomfortable Learning” speaker series. The students ended up cancelling the event due to, “the vehement reactions of students diametrically opposed to bringing Venker, a staunch antifeminist, to campus,” according to one of the student organizers. The prospect of listening to this female speaker must have been a little too uncomfortable.

6. Siena College Students Protest “Sexist” Kitchen Renovation Advertisement
Who doesn’t want a brand-new dream kitchen? Apparently, students at Siena College in New York. Upset that a Teakwood Builders Inc. billboard advertised a kitchen with the words, “your wife wants me,” students protested with signs such as, “Bake the patriarchy,” as reported by Campus Reform. But Teakwood Builders got the last laugh, thanking the students for “drawing attention” to their business.

5. Brown University Students Stage A “Die-in”
Brown University students held a protest against Americans “occupation” of America on Columbus Day, as reported by Campus Reform. As part of the protest, students held a “die-in,” during which time they laid down for 52 minutes and 30 seconds, which represented, “the 523 years of foreign occupation and indigenous resistance on this land base.” Brown has already changed the name of Columbus Day to Fall Weekend.

4. UT Austin Students Protest Concealed Carry With Dildos
This summer, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed into law a bill that allows license holders to carry concealed handguns on campus. Students at UT Austin are already organizing through Facebook a protest for when school is back in session next fall. Protesters will be “strapping gigantic swinging dildos to our backpacks in protest of campus carry.”

3. Oberlin Students Complain That Cafeteria Food Is Culturally Appropriated
Students at Oberlin College in Ohio are upset with the cafeteria food. A first-year student told The Oberlin Review that the food service company, “has a history of blurring the line between culinary diversity and cultural appropriation by modifying the recipes without respect for certain Asian countries’ cuisines.” Give them credit for a new way to complain about cafeteria food.

A Yale University lecturer became the focus of widespread student protests in the fall when she dared to question whether the university’s Intercultural Affairs Committee should be offering guidelines for Halloween costumes. The lecturer and her husband, a University professor, became the target of student hysteria. The student outrage had an impact. Neither will be teaching at Yale this spring.

In 2006, the CDC strongly insisted that all pregnant women should take the vaccine, regardless of their health. In 2011, an untested pertussis Tdap vaccine was also recommended for pregnant women. All of a sudden, vaccination during pregnancy was deemed “safe.” despite a complete lack of evidence.
But was there any scientific data guaranteeing for the safety of these vaccines, their necessity or their efficiency? This means that they were not sufficiently tested to demonstrate safety for pregnant women, and it is supposedly not known whether or not they are harmful for the fetus. Early in January, the CDC issued a travel warning for pregnant women and women trying to get pregnant. Due to the recent outbreak of the Zika virus, women were told to stay away from 14 countries and areas, including Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama and Venezuela.

TWITTER Censoring Non-Politically Correct Viewpoints?

The folks running Twitter may be too young to have heard of George Orwell, or perhaps they simply do not care that their new advisory council sounds frighteningly Orwellian. Either way, the brand new “Twitter Trust and Safety Council” seems like a board ready to censor comments in deference to political correctness.
It doesn’t help that among the more than 40 organizations that make up the council, one finds such groups as the “Dangerous Speech Project,” a group with ties to the liberal John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and to financier George Soros’ Open Society Institute.
Another council member is GLAAD, formerly an acronym for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (the organization now goes by just its initials). Feminist Frequency, which also seeks to monitor free speech, is another member of the council.
The council does include some groups that appear to do good work preventing cyber-bullying against the young. Absent, however, are any conservative-leaning groups.

It isn’t exactly clear what the council will do. The announcement itself came laden with doublespeak phrases such as “our Trust and Safety Council will help us tap into the expertise and input of organizations at the intersection of these issues more efficiently and quickly.” More ominously, it said that Twitter is “taking a global and inclusive approach so that we can hear a diversity of voices.”

As a private company, Twitter can of course permit any views it wants. Many conservatives already feel that Twitter is not as welcoming to their views as it is to those of liberals, and such an unbalanced membership in the council is not likely to change those views.
Twitter’s strength has always been its unfettered nature. Here people could come to alert their fellow humans to breaking news or simply funny and sometimes even deep insights. All you needed to do to connect with thousands, millions potentially, was to write something in fewer than 140 characters and click the “Tweet” button.
But that freedom has also been Twitter’s biggest downside. Here, too, comes the slime of the human race to hound those with whom they disagree with vulgar smears. Flash mobs rise and sadistically pursue people, virtually putting torch- and pitchfork-bearing medieval hordes to shame. A year ago this Friday, Jon Ronson grippingly chronicled in The New York Times Magazine how lives have been ruined by Twitter shaming.
In other words, Twitter reflected humanity, its best, its worst, and everything in between. There was no meta-enforcer, or very little of one. People could always block pesky trolls and report speech deemed harmful. But other than that, it was free flow.
The principle that ruled was prudence on the part of the sender and “caveat emptor” on the part of the user. A lot of the information on Twitter was rubbish. The user was the filter. But the user could also be sure that the wisdom of crowds would sort out the wheat from the chaff.
Overall, the site has been adept at filling a niche in citizen journalism. The site reminded many old journalists of the wire rooms that used to be housed in many newspapers and television stations.

It has other bigger problems, however. So far, it does not seem to have found a model to monetize all this potential. This may in time become a bigger problem than its new “Ministry of Truth.”

Word by word, the language is being picked apart by the politically correct police on the most ridiculous grounds possible. Pretty soon we aren’t going to be able to use very many words anymore… not unless we want to (GASP!) offend someone.
In a world where governments are blowing up children with drones and calling them collateral damage in phony terror wars on a daily basis, social engineering has turned average people into walking arguments that the film Idiocracy was actually a documentary, busily wasting their time fretting over how offensive otherwise innocuous words are.
Human beings are mammals. A female mammal who has children has traditionally been called a “mother” or “mom,” to separate this mammal linguistically from the male version, who has traditionally been called a “dad” or “father”.
Well, not anymore in one Florida college classroom where a professor has decided that language is offensive because it isn’t “inclusive” enough.

In the syllabus for her “Creativity In Context” class — a required course for any student pursuing a minor in Innovation — UF professor Jennifer Lee informs students of her four paragraph long classroom “communications policy” that she says will enforce “ethical conduct” in the classroom.
“The following policies and guidelines will be followed in this course,” the policy begins, followed by a bullet point instructing students to “Use inclusive language.” The policy mandates that students “[s]peak in a way that does not make assumptions about others based on “norms”, stereotypes, or one’s own identity or experience.”
The syllabus explains that this means replacing the words “boyfriend”/”girlfriend” with the more inclusive “partner” or “significant other.” The rule applies to conversations about married couples too: saying “husband” or “wife” is forbidden. Even the words “mom” and “dad” have a more “inclusive” alternative — students are told to use the word ‘family” instead.

So there is no such thing as a “mom” or a “dad” or a “husband” or a “wife” in that PC brainwashing lab er, classroom. Sounds like a good place for a mime to hang out…

By using the new words, Lee explains, students will be using speech that “is inclusive of alternative orientations and family structures, and free of stereotypes.”

Find one person walking around on this planet who didn’t have a mother and a father, if even only at the moment they were born? They got here somehow…
Pretty soon the only way to be “free of stereotypes” will be to not speak at all. Then they’ll have to move on to weeding out the offensive facial expressions. Take this all the way out and we end up in one of those dystopic futures like in the film The Giver where everyone is medically forced into having no  emotions at all because emotions are just too “dangerous” and “offensive”.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Controversy continues to swirl around Beyonce’s Super Bowl halftime show performance.
The pop superstar is being accused of using her performance to attack police officers.
“I think it was outrageous that she used it as a platform to attack police officers, who are the people who protect her and protect us,” former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told CBS2’s Dick Brennan.
Beyonce and her dancers were wearing leather and black berets, which was apparently a nod to the Black Panthers movement.
One dance formation seemed to acknowledge Malcolm X, and other dancers had fists in the air, which was reminiscent of the black power salutes of the 1960s and 70s.
Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., told CBS2 that the NFL should have canceled her appearance.
“I found the entire show objectionable. It was extolling the Black Panthers who were a terrorist organization, killing police officers in the 60s and 70s,” King said.
A protest is even being held against Beyonce next week outside NFL’s headquarters in New York.

According to an Event Brite page, an Anti-Beyonce Protest rally will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
“Are you offended as an American that Beyoncé pulled her race-baiting stunt at the Superbowl? Do you agree that it was a slap in the face to law enforcement? Do you agree that the Black Panthers was/is a hate group which should not be glorified? Come and let’s stand together. Let’s tell the NFL we don’t want hate speech & racism at the Superbowl ever again!” the page reads.
Despite the criticism, Beyonce has seen her share of supporters for her performance. Black Lives Matter activist Melina Abdullah praised her for being like artists who “are willing to raise social consciousness and use their artistry to advance social justice.”
Some New Yorkers also sided with the superstar.
“If you gonna read a million and one things into what comes out of people’s mouth, we would never leave our homes in the morning,” Eleanor Smith of Canarsie, Brooklyn, told CBS2.
Brian Wolfe of Bensonhurst said people need to “get a life.”
“Beyonce is in the best interest of everybody and she’s been around forever and never shown any signs of any prejudism and hate,” he told CBS2.

Beyonce has yet to comment publicly about her Super Bowl performance.

Ted Cruz admitted on Tuesday that his presidential campaign spread a false rumor, just hours before Monday's Iowa caucuses began, that conservative rival Ben Carson was dropping pout of the presidential race.

Carson finished a distant fourth in the nation's first nominating contest, and observers at two caucus precincts told DailyMail.com that he lost supporters to the Cruz camp when Republicans speaking on behalf of Cruz said Carson was suspending his campaign.

It turned out not to be true, however, and Carson himself complained Tuesday about 'shameless tactics and dirty political plays' that pushed Cruz to victory on the strength of political sabotage.

Cruz won the caucuses by a total of 6,239 votes over Donald Trump, less than four Republicans in each of the state's 1,681 precincts – representing the number Cruz's forces would have had to 'flip' at each caucus location in order to overcome what had been a strong Trump polling lead going into Monday night.

Overall, Cruz captured 27.6 per cent of the Iowa GOP vote. Trump took 24.3 per cent.

Rubio was a surprisingly strong third, at 23.1 per cent. Carson took just 9.3 per cent.

'CNN is reporting that Ben Carson will stop campaigning after Iowa,' the second said.

Cruz himself told Boston radio host Jeff Kuhner Tuesday on WRKO AM-680 that his political staff in fact reacted to a false report from a CNN journalist and never bothered to correct the record once Carson quelled the rumors personally.

'Yesterday when CNN reported and put up a post that Carson was not continuing on to New Hampshire, was not continuing on to South Carolina, but instead was flying home to Florida, our political team forwarded that story to our supporters,' Cruz said.

'What the team didn't do is, subsequently the Carson campaign put out a statement clarifying that he was not suspending his campaign. And the team did not forward that statement to the supporters as well.'

'That was a mistake,' he said. 'It was a mistake for us not to have forwarded the second statement as well, and I apologize to Ben for our not forwarding that second statement.'

Carson has accepted the apology, his spokeswoman Deana Bass told DailyMail.com.

He told Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly on Tuesday that he 'talked to Ted Cruz earlier today and he says that he didn’t know anything about what the campaign did in terms of contacting precincts, telling people that I was dropping out, that a vote for me was a wasted vote.' 

'I have to accept his word that he didn’t know,' Carson said, 'cause he said if he had known he would have not agreed with such a thing.' 

But the retired doctor insisted that Cruz needs to clean up his campaign, and compared it to the Obama White House.

'A culture exists within the Cruz camp that would allow people to take advantage of a situation like this in a very dishonest way,' he said. 

'Isn’t this the same thing we see with the Obama administration, the IRS scandal – no responsibility. Let’s see what in fact the Cruz campaign will do about those individuals who inappropriately disseminated this information knowing that the caucuses were not over – they were awfully anxious to get it out there weren’t they?'

The Cruz campaign's message that Carson supporters should jump aboard the Ted express got significant oxygen from Iowa Rep. Steve King, a tea party right-winger who endorsed the Texas senator last month.

'Skipping NH & SC is the equivalent of suspending,' King tweeted more than two hours before caucusing started. 'Too bad this information won't get to all caucus goers.

'Carson looks like he is out,' he wrote in a second tweet. 'Iowans need to know before they vote. Most will go to Cruz, I hope.' 

The rumor appears to have started with a tweet from CNN reporter Chris Moody, who wrote that 'Carson won't go to NH/SC, but instead will head home to Florida for some R&R. He'll be in DC Thursday for the National Prayer Breakfast.'

Moody later clarified: 'Ben Carson's campaign tells me he plans to stay in the race beyond Iowa no matter what the results are tonight.'

But the Cruz camp never called off the dogs.

'Last night, shameless tactics and dirty political plays defined the Iowa caucuses,' Carson said Tuesday afternoon in an email to supporters. 'There is no place for this kind of unethical behavior in our American political culture, and it only intensifies my desire to work extremely hard to break down the ugliness in this system.' 

Carson spokeswoman Deana Bass told DailyMail.com that 'the fact that the Cruz campaign received Dr. Carson's statement and chose not correct their false statements says it all.'

He claimed his opponent's campaign sent emails to their supporters urging them to spread incorrect rumors he had dropped out of the race, according to Time.

He told reporters: 'That is really quite a dirty trick. That’s the very kind of thing that irritated me enough to get into this quagmire.'

According to Time, his campaign manager Ed Brookover added: 'To have campaigns come out and send emails to their caucus speakers suggesting that Dr Carson was doing anything but moving forward after tonight is the lowest of low in American politics.'

MSNBC reports Carson's Iowa State Director Ryan Rhodes as saying: 'It was happening all over. One of the precincts Candy (Carson, the candidate’s wife) walked into, she had to correct the record. She actually walked in, in Ankeny, and gave a speech about no, he’s still in the race and that’s a lie.'

Cruz campaign spokesman Rick Tyler denied the claims, but told MSNBC some supporters were alerted of Carson's plan to head to Florida after the Iowa caucuses rather than for further campaigning elsewhere.

Carson told reporters on Monday that he would be leaving Iowa early so he could go to Florida and get some clean clothes.

His communications director Larry Ross then confirmed this in a statement released to the media, which read; 'After spending 18 consecutive days on the campaign trail, Dr. Carson needs to go home and get a fresh set of clothes.'

The statement also shot down rumors that Carson was suspending his campaign.

Carson accuses opponents of 'lies and dirty tricks'

Ben Carson on Monday night accused his opponents of conducting "dirty tricks" directed at his campaign and after the results from the Iowa caucus came in, spreading the false rumor that he had suspended his campaign.
Carson made the claim in an email to supporters after Sen. Ted Cruz was declared the winner of the Iowa caucuses. Carson came in fourth with 9.3 percent of the vote, behind Cruz, Donald Trump, and Sen. Marco Rubio.
"For months, my campaign has survived the lies and dirty tricks from opponents who profess to to detest the games of the political class, but in reality are masters at it," Carson said in the email. "Even tonight, my opponents resorted to political tricks by tweeting, texting and telling precinct captains to announce that I had suspended my campaign - in some cases asking caucus goers to change their votes."
Carson went on to say he partially decided to run for president "to stop these deceptive and destructive practices, and these reports have only further steeled my resolve to continue and fight for 'We The People,' and return control of the government back to them."
In a minor flap earlier in the evening, CNN briefly reported that Carson was not planning on heading to New Hampshire or South Carolina after Iowa, leading to speculation that he was planning to drop out of the race.
Not so: ".@RealBenCarson will be going to Florida to get fresh clothes b4 heading back out on the campaign trail. Not standing down," tweeted Jason Osborne, the Carson campaign's senior communications strategist.
